On February 10th, Vale Indonesia and Indonesia Bahodopi Nickel Smelting Company (PT BNSI) broke ground on an integrated low carbon nickel mining and smelting project in Molovali, Central Sulawesi Indonesia, at Bungku where the Bungku Timur & Bahodopi mine and smelter are located Sambalagi village in Pesisir.


With an investment of Rs 375,000 lakh crore to build 73,000 mt/yr nickel capacity using rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) technology, the smelting project is the first to use LNG energy for power generation, helping to reduce carbon emissions.
